All Eyes on Angkor Warriors in Bahrain

INTERNATIONAL: It’s going to be a late night for Cambodian football fans. The Angkor Warriors take on Guam in Bahrain for the second leg of their AFC playoff. Kick-off is at 11pm Tuesday night, Cambodian time.

Cambodia won the first leg on Sunday with a stunning goal in the 26th minute. They need only a draw in the second leg to advance to the finals of the 2023 Asian Football Championship in China. If they make it through, they’ll also bag a $100,000 cash award from Prime Minister Hun Sen. He offered the incentive on Sunday when congratulating them on their first leg win. Cambodia do go into the second leg as favourites.

The 2023 Asian Championships will be the 18th edition of the tournament, which is organised by the Asian Football Confederation. China will host the finals between 16 June and 16 July 2023.
